Antique iron daybed and dreaming of summer

Is it ever going to stop snowing?  Yes it is pretty when I have no where to go but to sit and watch the snow falls with a cup of tea in my hand and laughing children in the background.  That is rarely ever the case.  Who is ready for summer?  I so am.  I am ready for the smell of summer air and the feel of dirt in my hands.  For the girls and I to tend our rose garden and fill the house with roses.  I am ready for happy summer people.

I love to buy cottage or spray roses every week.  Roses make me happy.  Now the girls think it's strange when we don't have flowers in the house.

This vase is one of my most adored finds.  Look at that beautiful details.  LOVE.  I found it at my favorite flea market.  They think it might be close to hundred years old.

I got this gorgeous antique iron crib at the Brimfield Antique show last year.  Every year I look forward to walking around Brimfield by myself...hunting for that perfect treasure.  I plan to take loads of picture for you this year.

Gorgeous patina.

I took out the sides of the crib to turn it into a daybed.  Isn't it divine?  My girls love it.
I had originally bought these white curtains from IKEA but decided to use them to make the ruffle pillows and cover instead. The living room in general is very soft and feminine.  The rustiness of the bed kind of balance out all the ruffles and girliness. There is nothing sweeter than to see my girls cuddle up on their daybed.

It has been a very busy weekend for me.   I did a lot of sewing.  I don't LOVE to sew.  I always find  excuses just so I don't have to sew.  But my couches need some serious help.  I wish I was brave enough to show you what they really look like.  Let just say we used to have two very active labs who love to eat my couches.  Buying a new couch is not an option for me, so slipcovers are the next best things.

To soften the bland look of slip covered couches, I sew layers upon layers of ruffle pillows.  Who doesn't love ruffles?  Now I adore my couches.

I hope everyone is staying warm inside.  As much as I don't like snow, I feel blessed for days like these.  As I am typing this post, I can see all three of my loves playing outside in the snow.  I can see them having a snow ball fight and laughing.  I guess it is time for this mommy to make some hot chocolate and enjoy the snow.

Love,
Victoria

  14. Really a cool idea of the crib turned sitting area. I love roses too; my favorite ones are the variegated ones. I also love the tiny mixed carnations=love these placed in a teapot or tea cup.

    1. I love all kind of roses, Kim. They are just beautiful. I am planning to start a David Austen rose garden this summer. I love putting tiny rose buds in tea cups too and put them around the house...the girls always look at me like, is this a test? like is this a test to see how long these little teacups will be in one piece?
