most of my spring blooming plants are just slowly starting to wake up from the long winter.
I added three more lupine plants this year. The combination of lupines and peonies are just breathtakingly beautiful.
Like a child, I love walking around the garden while counting the peony buds.
Irises spread like wildfire throughout the gardens.
These beauties are from my rose garden. I love this coral color so much that I am going to add more to this spot. They bring so much color and beauty to this garden before roses make their entrance.
This front yard garden has been such a labor of love. Finally this year I feel like I got it under control. Naturally I want to do the same to my backyard. I have to keep reminding myself to take one small step at a time. After all gardens don't happen in one season. Didn't somebody wise once said "To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow?" May you find peace and happiness while getting your hands dirty and watching beautiful things grow.
Love,
Victoria

It's beautiful, Victoria. I love all the purple and the lavender and those corals are beauties. You have created a beautiful garden. xoxo Su
ReplyDeleteThank you, Su. I am excited to see which plants are coming back after our brutal winter. I am still dreaming of your gorgeous backyard.
DeleteIt amazes me how your garden can come back in such abundance after all those months of snow! It's truly inspiring in all its beauty. The evening light is my favorite during May and June...then in July, when the heat waves of Summer come, it will be the early morning light that I will savor.
ReplyDeleteI am surprise too, Kerrie. I lost a couple of roses but it was my own fault for not mulching them enough. I think putting compost and fertilizer down in the spring really helped too.
DeleteNow I see where some of those gorgeous blooms come from that you display in your home! You really have a green thumb, Victoria! That garden is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI don't know about a green thumb, Julie...I do like to pretend like a little old gardener. : )
DeleteSo lush and gorgeous! The purple blooming tree makes such a beautiful backdrop. Do you know what that is? I love all of the color and texture you incorporated and it must smell divine. I bought some organic fertilizer for my tomato plants and my husband sprinkled it all over the place when I wasn't looking. So our garden smells like BLEEP. lol
ReplyDeleteReally pretty Victoria!

Hi Sally. Thank you! I think it is a very old Rhododendron. I have been putting lots of compost and manure too. You can smell a whiff of flowers then a whiff of shizzit. lol
DeleteSee? Your garden did not mind all that snow! Everything is so, so pretty.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Lin
Thank you, Lin. Nature is an amazing thing, isn't it?
DeleteVictoria,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, the colors of purple are stunning the coral gorgeous. All the snow that blanketed you this past winter allowed the ground to rest and awake with vibrancy! You color your world through flowers and it becomes you.
xoxo,
Vera
I love the purple too, Vera. Lots of purple and blue in the garden.
DeleteVictoria, your garden is so lovely I can tell that you really work hard in it. Have a lovely day. Jo
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Jo. I have to admit it is a lot of work. I spend three hours everyday just weeding but it is so worth it.
DeleteI'm swooning over all those pretty shades of purple. Is that an Azalea with your lavender? Everything looks just so lush. We're just starting to enjoy our lilacs here so we are a little behind.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary. It is rhododendron but I think it has been there for over almost twenty years now. It is late for us too.
DeleteYour garden is gorgeous, Victoria! It really is therapy for the soul to spend time enjoying your labor of love in your beautiful gardens.
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Thank you, Mary Alice. It is definitely a labor of love. It is amazing how much time and money we put into gardening for all of three months out of a year.
DeleteAbsolutely stunning! What a dreamy garden!
ReplyDeleteJennelise
Thank you, Jennelise. I can't wait for roses to bloom.
DeleteAmazing! I remember when you planted this front garden! Look how it has fluffed out and grown and become lush! Would you consider posting a few photos of the whole thing together, like from the same angles as your original garden photos so we can see the difference? I just moved to a new house and am trying to put in a garden, it would be so inspiring to see that there is hope for my garden too. You are an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!! That is a great idea to do a before and after. I have learned that it takes about two gardening seasons for all the plants to really grow in together.
DeleteA garden bed of beauty my dear, and to think you were worried?
ReplyDeleteEach year growing stronger and stronger in beauty and abundance.
Your truly the village gardener.
Xoxo
Dore
I really am the village gardener, Dore. And I love it!!!
DeleteSo gorgeous Victoria. The colors are so vibrant and pretty. Have a wonderful start to the new week ahead.
