Painting is extremely therapeutic for me. After a very long day when everyone is asleep and the house is quiet, I just want to grab a paint brush and start painting. I forget I am going to be writing a blog post about it. Of course after painting for about an hour, I realize Oh snap, I should have taken a picture.
This was a very pretty dresser to start out with. She got curves and legs. But I wanted her to be something special...very Marie Antoinette.
Soft, feminine with a bit of bling. But nothing in life is perfect. She has her own perfectly imperfect flaws.
I painted her with Anne Sloan's Old White then topped it with watered down Louis Blue. I added antique gold wax to bring out the details. Then used clear wax and dark wax to age it a bit. Isn't she lovely? This girl got some attitude!
Love,
Victoria

ReplyDeleteThank you, Donna. I think my problem is I can only paint at night when the girls are asleep. By then I realized it is too dark to take pictures and I can't stop myself from start painting.

ReplyDeleteYes, Lovely--so nice!
ReplyDeletePlease excuse what is probably an obvious question but do you put the gold on before the blue or after? How do you keep it in those tiny lines without getting it on the blue? Also can you share more information on the brand of wax you used? I LOVE IT!!!
ReplyDeleteI put the antique gold wax on after I painted the dresser with the blue. As for the tiny lines, it is all due to my OCD tendencies. : ) I used a very small brush and also the wax is much easier to paint on than say if you use a gold glaze which has much thinner consistency. I forgot the name of the antique gold wax but I got it from AC moore. Ask for gold leaf kits and you should be able to find it around that section. I also use Annie Sloan clear and dark wax. Hope that helps!
DeleteGorgeous!
