  2. Hi Victoria...I commented earlier how much I loved your French bed. I know you mentioned that I could email you with any questions...with the chalk paint, I know you used old white and Paris gray, did you mix them together, or first do Paris gray then old white over? I have no idea how you achieved such a beautiful muted color! I totally need your expertise on this! Thanks Victoria!

    1. Hi Laura. I first mixed Paris Grey and Old white. I wanted a very light grey tone. After I added the appliques I realized it was too light. I don't know about other people but I really don't have any plan that I follow. I have an idea and I just kind of go along with it and make changes as it progresses. I mix a bit of water in with Paris Grey and lightly brushed over the whole bed. Then I took a damp paper towel and wiped over the paint in circular motion as to mix the two layers together. Imagine a painting, you never see a painting with just one solid color as a background. It is always a mix of different colors that are combined together to give any painting a soft and more "alive" look. Once the bed is dry, I put clear wax on the whole piece, then dark wax. Dark wax is what gives the bed its age and depth. Don't be afraid to make mistakes or experiments because you can just paint over it again. Hope this helps. <3

  3. Hi Victoria.....thank you so much for taking the time to explain and teach me how to do this look. This totally makes sense....I can see how you were able to achieve such a beautiful finish. I will start practicing with some old boards until I get the look I am going after. I so appreciate your talent and willingness to help us all achieve that fabulous French look!
    Have a beautiful weekend,

  5. Hello! I was just wondering, in the post I think was entitled "In the Name of Romance" or something a long those lines, where did you find the champagne colored wedding dress? I've been looking for something very similar and am having a hard time finding it. I saw it on pinterest, and the link took me to your blog. Thank you!

  7. Hello, I posted on a post and realized it was old and you might not read my post. I am in love with your painted refrigerator. I am wondering what medium you used to attach the moldings. It is so funny. I love Annie Sloan chalk paint and have used Duck Egg Blue a lot. We are remodeling our kitchen and getting paneled appliances BuT I saw your refrigerator and am now thinking about painting my Stainless Steel one ( hate Stainless ) which is very new. Give me the low down on how you did yours, pretty please!!!! Thank You! CeCe

    1. Hi Celia! The Monet painting behind the daybed is actually an oil painting somebody painted as a wedding gift. It is my most favorite piece in the house. I found it at an antique shop. You can read about the story here. http://troispetitesfilles.blogspot.com/2014/06/how-big-is-your-he-art.html
I bet you could print it out at Kinko too. I don't know if it would be this big. If you were crazy like me, I would just use wallpaper paste and paste it on the wall. Or!!!! You could paste it onto a big muslin cloth..let it dry and use modge podge to seal it. Then use liquid starch to paste it on the wall. That way when you decide you need to change it, you can just peel it off from the wall and there will be no damage to the wall at all!

  10. Hi Victoria, I love what you did with the mirror. Likewise I get my best ideas late at night when there is no one around to interrupt my thoughts. I have never heard of the product you mentioned that you used to make the trim. Could you please explain so I know what to look for. Is it like a plaster of paris idea set into molds? Where do you find the molds? thanks, Maureen the Budget Queen

    1. Hello! So it is actually just a fine gold glitter that you can get from a craft store. I painted clear all purpose glue on with a paint brush then dusted the glitter over the glue and let it dry for about a day.

  13. Hi Victoria,
I just found your Shabby French Refrigerator on Pinterest and went to your blog site. I absolutely love it! I know you did it a year ago but can you tell me what exactly your purchased from Home Depot and what colors you used on the refrigerator. Did you put a wax over it?
