Romantic tent for a summer day

Ode to summer.


Is there anything more romantic than a lace covered tent?





I spent a total of $15 to make this tent.  All you need are five pieces of 1 by 2 inch by 8 foot.  I simply tied together two A-shape frames with a fifth piece in the middle with rope.  Instead of sewing the fabric together, I used small tacks to nail the fabric onto the frame.






It is the perfect accessory for the garden.  Of course the perfect place to look at the stars and catch fireflies at night.

 


To share stories under the twinkling lights.




Or to simply wonder about the magic that is life.

    Beautiful as usual. Please use battery powered candles! That lace would go up like tinder and stick to skin like glue!

      I miss fire flies. We do not have them here in California. I am a native Californian but we lived in KS and MO for two years and we loved the fire flies.

    Fire flies are one of my favorite childhood memories. In the 1950s we played outside long into the evening when the "lightening bugs", as we called them, darted here and there until we captured them in a Mason jar. We didn't have a tent, just a quilt spread across the grassy lawn. Simple times of looking up to the night sky, learning about the star patterns, and listening to the crickets and frogs sing their nightly songs.
    You are a wonderful mother to give your girls these special times together with you. Making special memories of a lifetime about the simple things in life.

      Sarah, there is something so magical about warm summer nights. Growing up, every night for us is a warm summer night. I think we get so busy with so many new gadgets these days that we forget to really enjoy nature.

    Such a lovely post, as always! You are so amazing! I'm also happy to hear that you think of moving to SoCal, I think you will love it! For sure I think the "winter" will be more to your taste. It will be sad to leave your lovely home that you have personalized so delightfully, and your wonderful garden, but then you will have a new blank slate to work upon, so that will be exciting to see. In the mean time, it's summer, and your gardening is inspiring me to get something done on my own blank slate (new house). You have a lovely blog and I always enjoy reading it. Thank you so much!

      Thank you, Emily. I am also very excited about this new chapter in our life. I think I struggled the most about leaving behind this home that I have built for us. It is hard to break away from things that make us feel safe and comfortable. If I learned anything from the past is that unknown is filled with endless possibilities.     Oh Victoria, I so did this for my Daughter and Neice when they would have sleep overs... I miss them so little. The lights are magical and I would so want to have a sleep over in your yard.

    Oh as for fire flies, when I would visit family and cousins in Minnesota, or Iowa we kids would collect them in mason jars punching holes in the lid and they became our lanterns in the dark basement. My daughters favorite thing is fire flys.
