Falling in love with spring

Don't you just love spring?  I don't want to jinx myself but I think it is here to stay?  I can't wait to get my gardening on.  So far nothing is coming back yet.  In the mean time, I like to buy myself flowers and put them in random places.  There is nothing like being surrounded by flowers.

Bucket of flowers by the bed is the best way to wake up.

I love the mix of rustic and glam, don't you?

I can't seem to stop buying books.

Here is a little corner in the living room.  Cottage iron daybed with a bucket of roses just sound so dreamy.

Somebody asked me why I don't use vases to put my flowers in.  My answer was have you seen my kids and dogs?  These plastic floral buckets are just so wonderful.  I think I am going to paint them in different shabby colors.

I don't take bath but if I do, this is not a bad sight.  The girls and the pups, however, enjoy their bubble baths.

I am still so in love with the details from this gilded cabinet.  It is the perfect space for all our towels and my facial masks...lots and lots of them.  That should be a post all on its own.

Here is Aurora on her bike.  I just can't wait to be able to enjoy nature with them again.  This summer is a bit busy for us.  My parents are coming back next month and staying for three months.  Then the girls and I are going to Burma and Singapore for three weeks in August.  I am so excited and nervous at the same time.  They have never been and I haven't been back in eight years.  I plan to sleep, eat, spa and shop.  Yup.  It will be glorious.  I am planning to go to California in June and July.  I would love to know of cool flea markets or vintage shops around the OC area.  B is loving California.  He came back for the weekend last week and it was so wonderful to see him.  The girls and I miss him very much.

How adorable are those two?  This is kind of our every morning routine.  She likes to go through my closet for accessories.  She looks very Annie Hall-ish.  Bella doesn't like to have her pictures taken anymore.  She said she likes to supervise.  Oh children.

Love,
Victoria

  1. Victoria, it is all so gorgeous. I love the gilded cabinet, and I love its height. I had so many of those buckets, and the ones that were thick I gave to Good Will. My spouse didn't think I should, but I told him they were great for gardeners or picking up stuff around the yard. You have a wonderful idea to paint them; if I still have one, I will try it with chalk paint. How wonderful to travel with the girls this summer. I will be traveling with my daughter again. In Los Angeles I enjoy the Grove because it has a neat farmer's market and the American Girl Store is there. I also love Pasadena. There are flea markets, but I don't know the names, and I love the Norton Simon Art Museum. The Getty is nice too, but the other one is a private collection, and it is much less crowded, and it has beautiful grounds. It's probably an hour from OC on the weekend depending on the time and traffic. South of OC, I love Del Mar and Solana Beach.

    1. Thank you for all of your suggestions, Su. I can't wait for the warm Cali weather and just to walk around aimlessly through farmer markets and flea markets. I will definitely be checking out Norton Simon Art Museum. I am hoping to take a class at the Getty for a day while I am there. I don't know if they have one day classes.

  2. What a wonderfully busy summer you have planned for yourself and the girls! I think those masses of flowers in the buckets are divine, and some paint in pretty colors will be the perfect finishing touch. I'm afraid I have the same affliction as you with buying those books. It is one of my weaknesses. Your photos are beautiful, as always!

    1. Hello Julie! I love books. I used to buy a book a week and one of my favorite things to do is to just walk around aimlessly at a bookstore. My dream has always been to have that library from Beauty and The Beast one day. : )

  3. Oh Queen Victoria !! :))
What a wonderful summer you will have, I bet you may even be able to sneak away for a bit of ( Me) time, Victoria time with their grandparents visiting they can spend time with the girls and you can sneak off for a few creative finds. I am sure cooking in your home will be planned as well, wonderful time with family.
Your travels sound great and I have some greats laces for you to Visit in the OC that will have your head spinning, I will get the list to you, and if you make in into Santa Monica I have a couple of must go to places, pricey €$$ but so euro chic, so much so you leave so full of inspiration your heart can barely handle it.

Every vignette looks divinely you, and divinely me ! As for flowers in vases, I thought the whole vase thing was over? I thought everyone was using U exspected pieces for flowers these days, having a container love for just that.... In fact I have an old Flour for baking flour ... It's a square tin canister no lid and vintage white and black and I love to use it on my outdoors patio table with fresh shrub clippings and flowers in it.... I love that Flour and Flower sound the same, read the same but oh so different.

Enjoy all that spring has to offer, get that guest room fluffed and ready and take in all it has to offer you.
Will be intouch soon with locations.

    Xx

    1. So good to hear from you, Dore. I have been MIA for blogging world. I plan to use my parents' visit to the fullest advantage this summer. I am taking two upholstery classes and a photography class. I would love to hear about all of your recommendations. B works during the week so I have all day to visit all those spots. I agree with you about vases being over. I like the idea of using unexpected items to put flowers in. It is the combination of rustic and pretty. I can't wait to hear from you soon, Dore!

  7. So glad that Spring has sprung for you and I hope it stays! I'm sure you'll have a beautiful blooming garden soon:) Beautiful pics, as always.

I lived in So Cal for 30 years but never really did any thrifting other than GW or small thrift stores. I know the Rose Bowl in Pasadena does a huge flea market that's supposed to be really good. I always found everything in So Cal to be so overpriced tho, even the used stuff. We're heading out there next month also to stay with son in L.A. then to my in-laws. How exciting that you're going to your homeland!!! Sounds like you're going to have a busy summer!

  9. Dear sweet Victoria,
Nice to see your post. Pretty flowers throughout the home makes a happy home and your looks delightfully feminine and pretty. What a whirlwind Summer you have planned. Three month visit from Mom and Dad sounds exciting and Bella and Aurora will be graced with affection and most likely be spoiled!!! So exciting to return to Burma (Myanmar) and introduce your daughters to your homeland and experience the customs and traditions only heard about.
Sweet photo of you and B as I know you will have fun on your California visit. Soak in the sun and be inspired!

  11. How exciting that you will be traveling to your homeland. How wonderful for your girls to experience your country and meet their relatives. I am so glad I follow you on IG so I will be able to see your travels.

I am guessing with all your traveling that you will not have the time to garden much. I hope you will still be able to enjoy planting a few things.

Enjoy your time in California. I am north of SF so unfortunately have no suggestions of places to shop.

  17. Well you have quite the summer coming up don't you?!! I hope you come back inspired to the nines. I loved your last photo and tell Bella that I will miss seeing her in these photos if she doesn't let you photograph her anymore. And that would be a sad thing.
