One of the legs was broken and it was in serious need of a new fabric. So I fixed the legs and went to work.
I am loving how all the colors are looking together.
Can you tell how much I love velvet? Everything just feels so warm and cozy which is perfect for our cold New England weather. Now I can't decide where I want to keep this little footstool. I need something for our bathroom. Every time I give the girls a bath, I have to sit on the toilet and I thought it would be a perfect little chair for the bathroom.
A velvet chair for a bathroom? Why not? Don't you know that is how we fancy ladies roll? : ) The girls and I are so very excited for Halloween tomorrow night. Bella is going as Cleopatra and Aurora is going to be Elsa from Frozen. Bring on the candies! Happy Halloween to all my sweet ladies!
Love,
Victoria

ReplyDeleteThank you, Julie. This was a quick little project but came out pretty.
DeletePretty! I love it in the bathroom. x
ReplyDeleteWell done, my oh my how lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Michele!
DeleteGorgeous! The stool looks so nice now after you worked your magic!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, it looks amazing! I love the colors you chose for it, so rich and I think Rococo is the word but not sure on its spelling:) It goes perfectly in your bathroom. I laughed at your "hoarding room" term!
ReplyDeleteI hope you and your beautiful girls have a wonderful Halloween and get tons of candy:)
Thank you, Victoria. Yes I think it is Rococo. I hope you are having a great November!
DeleteAmazing what difference a few appliqués can make. I keep saying that I have to try out the Efex products. Love the makeover and it looks really pretty in your living room with the different blues.
ReplyDeleteMary @ Orphans With Makeup
Mary, it truly is awesome. I think you will really like those appliques.
DeleteYour amazing talent shines again, Victoria! Gorgeous...so fun to be invited into your home!!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Thank you sooo much, Mary Alice!
DeleteOh Victoria, I hear you on velvet, I too love it but you wouldn't know it by the looks of my homes design.
ReplyDeleteYou know I use to us the beautiful velvets for pieces like yours so it's not touched as often, and believe me when I say this but I covered a French over stuffed chair in a high grade COTTON VELVET !
The cotton velvets low pile look so cool when they are old. Vintage like! And they wear like nothing out there. A cotton velvet can take a horrific beating and not to worry with kids and animals the c/velvet cleans up fabulously. Something you may want to look into for those pieces you want to blend with your velvets, yet ones you can almost trash without it looking trashed.
Plus you can do some flanged welting on the cushions for a casual look and in my book it adds to a softer feminine feel to a less expensive fabric.
LOVE the stool, even if it just sits there for looks, or if it sits next to a bed, or chair with a few books piled on it and under the legs. You did an amazing job on it, just amazing.
As for looking around in Sunny California, yet our winters do chill and ice up, how could you leave New England, I would love to live there! Need a roommates ? :)
About my French chair, I stripped it down, it was button tufted back and cushioned seat. I noticed that someone place a screw into the leg to hold it from splitting up at the joint, if it were a split joint I can repair, but down the middle of the leg not so good, although I feel the leg will survive with not being terribly rough with it, it has old springs in it. So not sure what will come of it, but I do know I will leave the gold and worn aged yellow paint on it with all the nicks here and there. I am dressing it up Hauntingly for the porch fitted with webs and pumpkins and it looks scary lit up :)
Well Victoria,
Again I leave totally inspired with your elegant rustic French style.
Xx
Dore
Dore, you are sooo right. I usually use cotton velvet for all my upholstery projects but I made a mistake with this one and just used regular velvet. It doesn't look as "soft" as cotton but it will have to do.
DeleteVictoria,
ReplyDeleteBravo my fellow velvet loving friend! Your upholstery and paint is amazing. Love the color, a cobalt? Have fun with the girls tomorrow, their costumes sound fun, take pics and share with all us peeps!
Boo kisses and hugs,
Vera
Oh Vera, Thank you. I do love velvet but I learned that cotton velvet is best for upholstering. I made the mistake of using a regular velvet from a fabric store.
DeleteVictoria,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. What a gorgeous re love of this stool. I love it in your bathroom. So pretty and functional.
Kris
Thank you, Kris!
DeleteDarling little stool and perfect for the bathroom when "taking the waters", as the fancy ladies do! :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, the ladies like to take their waters then splash their bubbles all over the velvet footstool. lol
DeleteEvery time I visit your site, I am just so impressed with your creativity! This is another example of where I say"WOW" out loud. Don't know why I hadn't already signed up to follow you, but I am now!
