More garden and progress on the French daybed

I love simple summer days.  During the rest of the year, we are the busiest little bees.  We are always doing something or going somewhere.  Recently I realized I really have to change our lifestyle.  Life needs to be much simpler and less spending money...which means no more cable and no more activities that cost money.  We spend almost everyday having picnics at a playground then reading books at a library in the afternoon.  Gardening is a big part of our life and the girls are so proud of it.  Bella likes to go through the garden everyday and she would says, "Mommy, we have the most beautiful garden in the whole world and that because we take care of it, right?"  That makes me very happy.  Different flowers take center stage at different times and right now my clematis, delphiniums, and roses are the main girls.

Roses are gorgeous but dead-heading is not so fun.  Dressing up my dog, Lily, however is fun.  She is a poser.

I painted the upholstery of this settee with chalk paint® in Antoinette and the main reason is because of these ladies and their little hand and paw prints.  With paint, I can just wipe it off with a wet towel and if it is a really big mess, a coat of paint will cover everything up.

I have been working on my foot board turned French day bed project and I am hoping to get it done in a few weeks.  Here are some progress pictures.

This is after I cut the foot board in half.

Half way through the construction part.

All done with the construction and next step is upholstery.  I have decided to use a dark plum velvet for fabric.  Main reason being kids and pets.  I found a place where they sell salvaged architecture pieces from old Victorian houses.  I am thinking how amazing would it be to use those pieces to make a day bed?  Hmm...project number 55 on my list.  I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather.  It truly is a beautiful life.

Love,
Victoria

  5. Of Victoria,
I have a place for it in my HOME !! pleas :)

Now not Lear on construction? Is this a day bed you can take apart to move it easily ?
Or all screwed together permanently having to only take through wide openings?
Is it all one piece like a sofa?

And why not do a loose fit mattress, make a slip cover for it so you can remove and wash it anytime you want to. You can get away with doing it amazingly low budget by using a great soft drop cloth. Wash it twice dry it majorly for shrinkage, cut it cut and sew it in any style slip you want, add vintage pillows in all Regal prints, and some old and used, add a plum rolled bolster pillow for the back and pile on your mix of vintage prints muted with age. You can even add some French pillows with writing and some pillow ticking fabric pillows.

If your front room is large enough to handle this piece it would be great sitting I front of a slider. French doors. Bay window, so many possibilities. Even an off to the side, or out of the way little nook spot just for looking at.
Love the space under the bed leaving room to store under in shallow baskets, and such.

You rock our French gypsy souls with your Bo-ho vintage feels!
Seriously you need to do a book on the lines of creating this look from junk and beauty!

See you soon, can't wait to send over my non-blogging aunt and friends.

  6. Oh, Victoria, I almost forgot to mention, not to make light of it or lack of importance, but the garden sweetly is paying off. Can you imagine having neighbors and friends over after you get that day bed in place, a hanging chandelier over it or nest to it, perhaps a wow lamp on a table off to the side showing off all that amazingn-ness ?? I sure can.

    See you soon
    Xx
